The results of just-concluded medical admission test for 2023-24 academic session have been published. The pass rate is 47.83 percent. The tests were held simultaneously at 44 venues in 19 exam centers in the country on Friday (Feb 9). This time, 1,04,374 candidates participated in the examination.
There are 5,380 seats available at government medical colleges and 6,295 at private medical colleges for 2023-24. In all, students will join the fray for 11,675 seats.
Last year, the government raised admission fees for private medical and dental colleges by Tk 3.5 lakh. In December, the district quota for MBBS admission test for 2023-24 session was scrapped, allowing general students the chance to secure admission if seats allocated under the freedom fighter quota remain unfilled.
Traditionally, the district quota reserved 20 percent of total medical seats for students from specific districts. In 2022-23 session, some 750 students secured admission through the district quota.
In February this year, the High Court ordered the authorities concerned to strictly maintain the 5 percent freedom fighter quota in medical admission tests.
