JnU LML dept forms Moot Court Society

The Land Management and Law (LML) department of Jagannath University formed a Moot Court Society for the students. On Thursday (February 15), the committee of the moot court society was announced at the prize distribution ceremony of the first intra-departmental moot court competition organised by the department.

The programme is chaired by Professor Dr. Sharmin Akhtar, Chairman of the Land Management and Law Department, while the dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. . Dr. SM Masum Billah, was present as the chief guest.

In the speech of the chief guest, Dr. SM Masum Billah said, To build a smart Bangladesh, we must create smart citizens. In moot court competition, there is a different joy. It boosts students' confidence and helps them become smarter. Moot courts have been in vogue in legal studies since Oxbridge (Oxford and Cambridge) times.”

He also said, When a student enters the corridor of law, an unwritten contract is made with the people of his society. People want the law to give them justice. Law students have no chance of failure. They can make themselves relevant everywhere.”

The Moot Court Society Committee was announced by Assistant Professor Ayesha Saleh, Convener of the Society. Tanwee Saha was elected president, while Shoena Aktar was made vice president. Along with them, the other office bearers are Farzana Suvra as the general secretary, Asadul Islam as joint general secretary, Antor Hossain as treasurer, and Tahsina Nayma Khan,Tahura Anjum, and Md. Aralob Ali as general members.

Prizes were awarded among the champion team, runner-up team, best researcher, best motter, and other competitors in the event. At this time, the teachers and students of the department were present at this event.
