Silent protest held at JU against Iftar party ban at SUST, NUST

The common students of Jahangirnagar University staged a mass Iftar program in protest against the university authorities' ban on Iftar parties at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology and Noakhali University of Science and Technology.

On Wednesday (March 13) the second day of Ramadan, the students organized Iftar at the central field.

Shakid, a student of History department, said, “Two university administrations of the country have banned Iftar parties in their campuses. They are trying to eliminate Islamic cultures from the country.

We protested against him and common students united and had Iftar. We will tell the administrations of those two universities to withdraw their orders. I also hope that no other university administration should take such a decision.”

on behalf of the organizers, Safayet Mir, a student of mathematics department, said we had organized for 500 people.  But the attendance was about 1500.  Later, more Iftar was purchased considering the attendance.  Also, a large part of the attendees participated in this event at their own expense.

Earlier on March 10, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology and March 11, Noakhali University of Science and Technology banned organizing Iftar parties inside the campus.
