On the death incident of Jagannath University student Fairuz Abontika, the Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University, Professor Dr. Sadeka Halim, said everything will be carefully analysed and investigated, as any investigation done in haste is likely to have weaknesses. She said these things while talking to the press on Sunday (17 March).
She said, We have to work according to the law that exists at this university. Many may not understand it from the outside. In this university, when we penalise someone by law, it has to go to a few tires. Otherwise, he can go to court, and if there is any weakness in our investigation in court, it will come back when there is a teacher or someone else at that opportunity. Such precedents exist in various public universities.
The vice chancellor also said, I mentioned earlier that the work is on a large scale. Because the girl who committed suicide wrote many things in the note. When a student comes to university, he has a relationship with his classmates. He has a rapport with his teachers, and he interacts with many officials of the administration. So when we do this investigation, it has to be done carefully on a large scale. At the university level, everything is not done individually.
Earlier, on Friday night, JnU student Fairuz Sadaf Abontika committed suicide after giving a Facebook post blaming the university's assistant proctor, Deen Islam, and classmates Raihan Siddiqui Amman. Police arrested both of them on Sunday night.
A torch procession was also held on the University campus on Sunday night under the banner of general students of the university demanding Justice for Abontika.
