Professor Dr Mohammad Alamgir Kabir from the Department of Statistics and Data Science has been appointed as the acting proctor of Jahangirnagar University (JU).
This appointment was announced through an office order issued by the university Registrar Abu Hasan on Monday.
According to the circular, Dr Mohammad Alamgir Kabir has been assigned the role of acting proctor upon the written request of the former proctor of the university ASM Feroz Ul Hasan, an associate professor in the Department of Government and Politics.
Previously, Dr Mohammad Alamgir Kabir served as the director of the Student-Teacher Centre and as the principal of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall. He currently holds the position of principal at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Hall.
ASM Feroz Ul Hasan, the former proctor, joined the university as a lecturer in the Department of Government and Politics in 2009. He was appointed as an assistant proctor on November 1, 2018, and later assumed the role of acting proctor on January 1, 2019. He was then appointed as the permanent proctor on November 6, 2022.
Commenting on his new role, Prof Mohammad Alamgir Kabir expressed his desire to collaborate with all stakeholders irrespective of political affiliations. He requested cooperation and prayers from everyone in this regard.
