The flagship women entrepreneurship training program of BRAC Business School, "Uddomi ami", recently concluded Cohort 5 at BRAC University Campus, Merul Badda. The Closing Ceremony marked the successful completion of training by 20 dynamic and diverse women entrepreneurs representing various sectors of Bangladesh, including food, clothing, handicrafts, IT, and day care services. Since its establishment in September 2021, Uddomi Ami has effectively trained over 100 women entrepreneurs in Bangladesh.
The event was graced by Mohammad Jahid Iqbal, Joint Director, SME & SEIP, Bangladesh Bank; Md. Rezaul Karim, Company Secretary, HATIL; Sheela Tasneem Haq, Advisor- Democratic Governance, UNDP; and Mohammad Mujibul Haque, PhD, Professor and Associate Dean Acting Dean, BRAC Business School, BRAC University.
Mohammad Jahid Iqbal, Joint Director (SME & SEIP), Bangladesh Bank congratulated the participants on their courage to pursue entrepreneurship. Jahid commended BRAC Business School and BRAC Bank for the initiative citing women entrepreneurship as a matter of national interest.
Md. Rezaul Karim, Company Secretary, HATIL was delighted to host the women entrepreneurs at HATIL Factory for the Industry Visit session of Uddomi Ami. Rezaul earnestly requested BRAC Business School and BRAC University to undertake developing local business cases so that students and entrepreneurs can learn the local context of dynamics of business in Bangladesh.
Sheela Tasneem Haq, Advisor- Democratic Governance, UNDP also commended Uddomi Ami initiative pointing out various avenues of collaboration that BRAC Business School can avail with UNDP in terms of skill development programs, particularly for women.
Mohammad Mujibul Haque, PhD, Professor and Associate Dean (Acting Dean), BRAC Business School, mentioned that BRAC Business School has ongoing initiatives to upskill entrepreneurs and professionals of Bangladesh, developed local business cases through 1st International Case Conference on Business and Management (ICCBM 2023) and conducting research and training programs that has room for collaboration with all the stakeholders at the Uddomi Ami Closing Ceremony.
