Eminent lawyer and Member of Parliament Tarana Halim said, False history has been practiced in the past due to the distorted thinking of one side. This group spreads propaganda about the number of martyrs and women who lost their prestige in the liberation war to oppose the Awami League. On the other hand, JnU VC Sadeka Halim said, those who opposed the war of independence are spreading numerical propaganda through political misinterpretation.

On Monday (25 March), the speakers said these things in the seminar entitled '71's Genocide: History's Responsibility and Our Responsibility' to remember the martyrs of the massacre on March 25, 1971, and to acknowledge this genocide.

In the speech of the chief guest, Tarana Halim said, If the political ideology of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was reflected in society, then everyone in our society would want to be a politician. False history has been practiced in the past due to the distorted thinking of one side. In order to oppose Awami, this group spreads false propaganda about the number of martyrs and the women who lost their prestige in the liberation war. Due to that, we are confused at the international level.

She also said, Every generation in the world is wandering in search of the true being. And we are doing the opposite. We need to know our roots and our history. There is no division between freedom, the liberation war, and Bangabandhu; it should not exist. We have to convey this lesson to the next generation. We should demand that a list of those who were involved in gang rape during the independence war be published.

In the speech of the honoured guest, Vice Chancellor of JnU, Dr. Sadeka Halim, said, Those who opposed the war of independence are spreading numerical propaganda through political misinterpretation. Because of that, even after 50 years, we are facing obstacles to recognising the international genocide. We must not forget that many classes of people opposed the liberation war. They were doing it directly.

Sadeka Halim also said, I am requesting the students to read every book of Bangabandhu. Religion should be carried on with a neutral attitude. We need to know what Bangabandhu's contribution was to the United Front of 1954, the People's Uprising of 1970, and the elections of 1970.

Dr. Abul Kashem, professor of history at Rajshahi University, said as the main article presenter, We must include genocide in textbooks in order to achieve international recognition of the 1971 genocide. Socio-cultural stakeholders need to be more proactive and increase research on genocide. The younger generation has to come forward. And if we don't get recognition from the United Nations, at least we will get recognition from different countries.

Deans of various faculties of the university, directors of institutes, department chairmen, registrars, chairman of various departments, proctors, teachers and students were present at the event.
