Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) has secured a joint second position among Bangladeshi universities participating in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2024. BAU's position in the THE Asia University (Regional) Rankings 2024 is between 351 and 400. This marks an improvement from its previous position of 401-500 in 2023. In 2024, the university scored 31.8, compared to around 24 in 2023, indicating significant progress both in ranking and score.

Moreover, this year, a total of nine universities in the country have secured positions in the THE Asia University Rankings 2024.

On May 3rd, at 10 a.m., a press conference was held at the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of universities where the director and additional directors of IQAC spoke. The press conference took place at the IQAC office conference room. Present at the time were Professor Dr. Sukumar Saha, Director of IQAC, Professor Dr. Md. Alamgir Hossain, Specialist Member of the Ranking Committee of IQAC, Professor Dr. M. Nahid Sattar, Additional Director, and Professor Dr. Jahan Ara Begum.

Regarding this, the Vice-Chancellor of BAU, Professor Dr. Emadul Haque Chowdhury, said, "It is a matter of pride for us that BAU has advanced in rankings. However, we have more room for improvement. Most of our faculty members have obtained PhD degrees from prestigious universities abroad. So, they can play a significant role in achieving a good position in rankings through quality research, education, and international collaboration. However, our two main challenges are the inadequacy of budget in the education sector and the inconsistent research environment. If we can improve these two issues, BAU will surpass all others in rankings."
