Towards Sustainability is a non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to making a meaningful impact on achieving sustainable development goals. Driven by a vision of creating a more sustainable and equitable world, the organization tackles global challenges like climate change, poverty, inequality, and environmental degradation.
In 2023, Towards Sustainability (TS) was established by the students of Khulna University with the motto Learn, Lead, and Engage. They are engaging and preparing the new generation and the youth to face the problems of climate change in the future. They have already completed two projects, Climate Education and Khulna Envoframe. Along with these projects, through campaigns and events, they have been able to raise awareness of climate change among the people of society. They also work to encourage sustainable practices such as tree planting, recycling, and energy conservation.
The organization is initiating another project, named "Project Life Tree," in the upcoming monsoon season. They have undertaken a comprehensive plan for proper tree planting throughout Bangladesh, ensuring the right time, right place, and proper procedures. Under this project, the "Tree Guardianship" program has been launched, through which regular watering, cleaning around the trees, and proper maintenance of the planted trees will be ensured.
The founder, Nushrath Jahan Juhi, said, We're not just an organization; we're igniting a global movement to combat climate change and environmental degradation. I believe in our responsibility to the planet and future generations so I founded Towards Sustainability. Through education and action, we're empowering individuals to make sustainable choices. Together, we can create a brighter future.
The founder also added, "Our goal is to create a ripple effect, where every small action contributes to a larger movement towards a more sustainable and equitable world."
