The Islamic University (IU) Teachers’ Association (IUTA) has announced an indefinite boycott of all classes and examinations from Monday (July 1) to press home their three-point demand, including withdrawal of new Universal Pension Scheme ‘Prottoy’ issued by the Finance Ministry.

Professor Dr. Anowar Hossain, President of Islamic University Teachers' Association, confirmed the matter on Sunday.

‘The teachers of the university will completely abstain from teaching and conducting exams until their demands are met.’ he said.

The other demands of the teachers are-inclusion of university teachers in the promised super grade and introduction of an individual pay scale for the teachers.

Meanwhile, IU teachers observed a full-day work abstention on Sunday and staged a demonstration on the ground floor of the faculty building of the university, for their demand.

Besides, the university’s Officers Association also observed the three-hour work abstention from 10am to 1pm and held a separate protest program in front of the administrative building.
