The Appellate Division upheld the decision of the High Court declaring the decision to cancel the freedom fighter quota system in the first and second-class government jobs invalid. In protest, the general students of BSMRSTU blocked the road in front of the main gate of the campus and held a sit-in program.

On Friday (July 05) around 2 pm, the angry students marched from the front of the administrative building of the university and took a stand on the road in front of the university.

During this time, the students participating in the program started chanting different slogans. 'Burn the fire, burn the fire' 'Let the quota discrimination be eradicated, let the geniuses be free', 'Check the geniuses, abolish the quota system', 'The tool of eighteen, roar once more', 'Wake up, wake up, student society wake up', 'We want to cancel, we want to cancel "I want to cancel the quota system" etc.

The other demands of the students are that, subject to the 2018 circular being upheld, a commission should be set up as soon as possible to remove unreasonable and discriminatory quotas in government jobs (all grades) and only backwards and disadvantaged groups can be considered according to the constitution;

Quota facilities cannot be availed more than once in a government recruitment examination. If qualified candidates are not found in the quota, the vacant posts should be appointed according to merit; Apart from this, effective measures should be taken to ensure a corruption-free, impartial, and merit-based bureaucracy.
