Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) students blocked the Dhaka-Pabna highway demanding to reform the quota system in government jobs.

Students blocked the highway on Saturday (July 6) from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. At this time, they held banners and placards and chanted anti-quota slogans.

At this time, severe traffic jam was created on both sides of Dhaka-Pabna highway.

Earlier, at eleven in the morning, students began to gather at Independence Square. After that, the students started a protest march from the Independence Square along the main road of the university. The procession ends at Dhaka-Pabna highway.

The protesting students said, 'Students are treated unfairly through discriminatory quotas. Students have protested against all injustices before. We will not accept the discrimination from which the country became independent.

They also said, 'We do not want to cancel the quota system, we want to reform the quota. Those who are entitled to quota must be given that right. But we cannot accept the chance of depriving a large number of talented people by providing additional quota. I demand to restore the circular issued in 2018 by logically reforming the quota system.

They left the road blockade at 12:30 noon. They announced that they would continue their agitation until their demands were considered.
