One caught for questions leak, proxy Examinee supply

Kausar Ali provides 'proxy' examinees for various government and other job recruitment examination. He is even involved in question leak rackets.

It is known that he and his associates have been providing proxy examinees for recruitment exams such as the preliminary exam for teacher registration, various railway positions, assistant teachers in primary schools, and recruitment exams of various government and state-owned organizations.

For about 10 years, Kausar Ali has been providing proxy examinees and leaking questions for government job recruitment exams. He claims that he himself has acted as a 'proxy' examinee in at least three exams. He also says he has helped arrange proxy examinees for 14-15 other exams. He claims to have had a deal with Abu Bakar Siddique Reza, the general secretary of Joypurhat district Chhatra League, to provide a proxy examinee for the management subject in the upcoming NTRCA written exam.

Kausar was caught red-handed at Dhaka University (DU) when he came there to find a proxy examinee for Reza. He was then taken to the Dhaka University Journalists' Association by some students, where he confessed to his involvement in providing proxy examinees.

Kausar says he takes around 20,000 Taka to allow someone to sit for the exam in his place. If the proxy examinee passes, he takes 1-1.5 lakh Taka depending on the job. He claims there was a deal with Abu Bakar Siddique Reza for 20,000 Taka to provide a proxy examinee for the management subject in the upcoming NTRCA written exam.

On Friday (12 July) around 8:30 PM, a DU student took Kausar Ali to the Dhaka University Journalists' Association, where he revealed his involvement in providing proxy examinees in various exams. He also showed various evidence from his WhatsApp account.

How Kausar Ali was Caught

On Friday (12 July) evening, Kausar Ali came to Suhrawardy Garden adjacent to the university with his friend Shimul to meet 'Robeen alias Sulaiman', a DU student, in search of an examinee. According to Kausar, he had earlier paid 1.7 lakh Taka to Robeen for his wife's job exam. On that day, a deal was made with Robeen to pick a DU student as a proxy examinee. When discussing this, Robeen started beating Kausar with some others accompanying him. Robeen then demanded 5 lakh Taka. At one point, other students present at the scene took Kausar to the Dhaka University Journalists' Association.

 

Kausar Ali says the person named 'Robeen' made a deal with him for 20,000 Taka to arrange a proxy examinee for the management subject in the upcoming teacher registration exam on Saturday (13 July) on behalf of Abu Bakar Siddique Reza, the general secretary of Jhenaidah district Chhatra League. He showed the WhatsApp conversation with Reza as proof, where Reza provided Kausar with various information including the admit card.

Kausar Ali says he came to DU campus to look for a skilled examinee for the management subject in the upcoming NTRCA written exam. The plan was to send the examinee to Rajshahi Lokhnath High School overnight and have them appear in the exam in the morning.

How the Racket Operated

Kausar's friend Shimul collected questions from various sources and gave them to Kausar. Kausar then provided the questions to Aminul Islam from the Bengali department, Rayhan from the Islamic History department, Abu Zar Gifari from the Islamic Studies department, and Babul Mia at Bogura Azizul Haque College.

They then supplied the questions to the clients.

Dhaka University Students Provided Proxy

Kausar Ali named four Dhaka University students who provided proxy services - Iqbal Hossain from Bijoy Ekattor Hall, Sulaiman Robeen, Ifrat from Mohsin Hall, and Abbas. However, he could not provide clear information about them.

Kausar also named Rakib from the Physics department and Hasan from the same university as being involved in the proxy racket.

Kausar Himself Acted as Proxy in 3 Exams

In the interrogation, Kausar Ali revealed that he himself had acted as a proxy examinee in at least three job recruitment exams - for the positions of pointsman, khalasi, and meter reader cum messenger at Mymensingh Rural Electrification Board-2. He took 20,000 Taka from the actual candidates to appear in their place.

After the interrogation, Kausar was handed over to the Shahbagh police station with the help of the Proctorial Team of Dhaka University.'
