The University of Asia Pacific (UAP) warmly welcomed its newly admitted students for the Spring 2024 semester with an orientation program held at the UAP Plaza on Sunday.
Architect Mahbuba Haque, chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) at UAP, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Professor Dr Qumrul Ahsan, vice chancellor of UAP, presided over the event.
Addressing the gathering, Architect Mahbuba Haque encouraged the students to uphold principles of kindness and cautioned against causing harm to others.
She emphasized that such values are crucial for building a successful future.
In his speech, Vice Chancellor Dr Qumrul Ahsan congratulated the new students on their admission to UAP.
He urged them to take full advantage of the university's resources and highlighted UAP's commitment to fostering a diverse and creative learning community.
Several distinguished personalities from UAP also spoke at the orientation program.
Brig Gen (Retd) Prof Dr AKM Nazrul Islam, registrar of UAP, welcomed everyone to the event with an opening speech.
As part of the orientation program, four successful alumni of UAP were invited to inspire and offer their best wishes to the new students.
The alumni included Lamia Alam, lecturer at the Department of Pharmacy, Shadman Shoumik Anik, sales territory manager at DHL Worldwide Express, Mohammad Nowshad Akram, waste management expert at WaterAid and Nuzhat Tabassum Progga, lecturer at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
The event was attended by heads of various departments, faculty members, administrative staff, current students, and guardians of the incoming freshmen.
Following the program, the university organized an interactive session where parents and guardians had the opportunity to meet with the university administration.
The orientation program aimed not only to introduce the new students to UAP's academic environment but also to foster a sense of community and provide guidance for their upcoming educational journey.
