JnU students’ protest march over PM’s quota remarks

Jagannath University erupts on Monday (15 July) at midnight over Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's statement on the quota movement. The students started their protest march at the university's main gate at around 12.00 AM. Students blocked the Tanti Bazar intersection for about 20 minutes and then came to the University again.

Starting at 11.30 PM on Sunday (14 July), students from various mess near the university continued to gather at the university, where over half a thousand female students joined the protest from the Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Female Hall. At that time, students chanted slogans.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina spoke in a press conference at Ganabhaban on Sunday (14 July) evening about the ongoing anti-quota movement. She said, ''If the descendants of freedom fighters don't get quota benefits, will those then go to the descendants of war criminals? That's my question, the countrymen's question."
