Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel has stated that there is no situation to reopen educational institutions at the moment. On Monday (July 29) at 4:30 PM, the Education Minister held a meeting with university teachers on the pension issue in the conference room of the Ministry of Education. He informed this in response to questions from journalists.

When asked about the reopening of educational institutions given that some students were still on the streets, the minister said that discussions must be held with those responsible for the matter. He emphasized that the situation is not suitable for reopening now. He added that they do not have information about the number of students on the streets or the specific circumstances at this moment. They will be able to provide updates once they receive the information.

When asked if there was any discussion in the cabinet today regarding the reopening of primary schools, he replied that he would not comment on it now. Discussions within the cabinet cannot be disclosed outside.

The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister's Adviser on Education and Culture Dr. Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Education and former Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, and officials from the Ministry of Education.

On July 1, nearly 39 public university teachers across the country went on an all-out strike, suspending classes and exams, and demanding the withdrawal of the universal pension scheme. This program was initiated by the Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers' Association. They had a meeting with Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader regarding this issue, but as no solution was reached, they continued their movement.
