HSC and equivalent exams have been suspended due to the violence surrounding the quota reform movement and the subsequent fall of the Awami League government. In this situation, there has been speculation in various quarters about whether the remaining exams will be conducted with full marks or if students will be given an automatic pass.

Fake notices have also spread on social media. However, the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee has stated that none of these notices are correct.

The committee has confirmed that the suspended exams will be conducted with full marks. Additionally, a revised schedule for these exams will be published soon.

This information was confirmed on Monday (August 12) through an urgent notice signed by the President of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and the Chairman of the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar.

The notice stated that a notice regarding the evaluation of the 2024 HSC and equivalent exams based on a shortened syllabus with reduced marks has been circulated on social media, which was not issued by the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee.

It further stated that preparations are underway to conduct the suspended exams for the 2024 HSC and equivalent examinations. These exams will be conducted according to the syllabus and marks distribution published by the National Curriculum and Textbook Board for the 2024 HSC and equivalent exams. The revised schedule for the suspended exams will be announced on the respective boards' websites and in the media soon.

Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar, President of the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, has urged everyone concerned to be cautious about this matter.

It is noteworthy that the HSC and equivalent exams for all education boards, except for the Sylhet board, began on June 30. After eight days of exams, the tests scheduled for July 18 were suspended due to the situation arising from the quota reform movement. Subsequently, the government suspended the exams three more times.

According to the schedule, 61 exams across 13 days remain to be conducted. Due to the different subjects for different departments, a large number of exams are still pending. However, each student needs to participate in exams for 13 subjects. These include four compulsory subjects (first and second papers of Bangla and English) and ICT, with the remaining eight subjects being optional.

Finally, after suspending all exams, a new schedule was published on August 11. According to that schedule, the written exams were to be completed by September 8. However, the Sheikh Hasina government was overthrown in an uprising led by the anti-discrimination student movement.

Currently, as an interim government has taken office and the situation in the country is stabilizing, the boards are working to conduct the suspended HSC exams.
