Students of Gopalganj Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) have protested to demand a fair share of the international river water of Bangladesh with India and to protest against the purposeful opening of Dambur and Ghazaldoba dams to cause sudden floods.

On Friday (23 August) the protest march started from the central mosque of the university, went around the main roads of the university and came in front of the constructed fountains near the main gate. The march ended with a speech protesting the Indian aggression.

Md Fayekuzzaman Mia, President of the University Teachers' Association. Chairman of ACCE Department was present in the procession agreeing with the students. Dr. Kamaruzzaman. chairman of the agriculture department, Dr. Nazmul Haque Shaheen, Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences. Mohammad Ali Khan and Student Advisor Sharafat Ali etc.

Meanwhile, the angry students chanted 'If people die in floods, Seven Sisters will not exist', 'Delhi not Dhaka, Dhaka Dhaka', 'When people die in floods, Abrar remembers you', 'Indian invasion, break it, break it' Indian dadagiri, break it Destroy it', 'Against Indian aggression, direct action', 'If you want to get freedom, you have to give up Bharat Bhakti', 'Dalali na Rajpath, Rajpath, Rajpath', he kept chanting various slogans.

At this time, the students said that the floods in various districts of the country including Comilla, Feni, Noakhali are not a natural phenomenon, it is the water from Delhi. It is a politically motivated flood. India has imposed a political flood on us. I want to say to India, you will not break the dam of patience. If I break the barrier of patience, I will break the Seven Sisters. At this time, they called for help to the flood-affected people.

Md. Fayekuzzaman, President of BSMRSTU Teachers Association, said, "Normally, when there is disaster in the country, we get a forecast through the Directorate of Meteorology. As a result, we evacuate people from potentially affected areas to safe shelters. But there was no such opportunity in this flood. India opened the dams without any warning to us. Which is not desirable from any friendly country.

He also said, 'The main crisis of the ongoing flood will begin when the flood water recedes. Then flood affected people will face various health risks. Moreover, the issue of resettlement of flood-affected people is very important. He said, "As the president of the teachers' association, I am saying on behalf of the teachers' association that we are always with the flood-affected students of our university in any need."
