Relief Efforts of students Continue for Third Day

Students of Dhaka University have been collecting mass relief at the Teacher-Student Center (TSC) for the third consecutive day on Saturday to support flood-hit individuals.People have come down to deliver relief to the TSC area of Dhaka University; where a massive rush have been seen on Saturday (24 August).

Visiting at TSC area of DU,numerous people are bringing relief by many private cars, trucks, CNG, rickshaws or by hand. Besides, food, clothes, medicines and essential items are being brought to the flood victims by various means of transport.

Approximately 50 trucks were required to transport the relief materials provided by people from various classes and professions.

Hundreds of student volunteers are seen working non-stop to collect huge amounts of relief. Sometimes they struggle to empty the relief fleet. Although cash and dry food were brought, the volunteers said that water, dates and tissue were scarce.

They also mentioned the need for more volunteers to carry out the relief collection activities properly..

Izaz, a student of class six, came to TSC yesterday with his parents. Along with his father, he was carrying a heavy sack on his head around 1 am. His father said, their family came Dhaka University leaving their other child of 11 months at home at Rayer Bazar. Izaz's father Al Imran, a bank official and former student of the university's finance department, also took his son out during the agitation. He mentioned, "I want to teach my son to work for people from his early age"

Like Izaz, people of all classes participate in this mass relief collection.

On the second day of the program, which was Friday, the anti-discrimination student movement raised Tk 1 crore 42 lakh 50 thousand 196. Abu Baker Majumder, a coordinator of the movemen. However, Students do no announce the collected money of Saturday.

The relief program began on Thursday, with a booth set up at the main gate of TSC. Students, after gathering in the cafeteria and working hard throughout the day, also participated in packaging the relief materials at night.

On the first day, the program collected Tk 29 lakh 76 thousand 173, with donations including bottled water, food saline, puffed rice, biscuits, and dates.

Additionally, a concert titled 'Joruri Songjog' was organized at the foot of the Raju Sculpture on Friday at TSC to crowd-fund for the flood victims. The event, organized by leaders and activists of left-leaning student organizations, ran from noon to midnight.
