Dua Mahfil, Inauguration of ‘Independence Corner’ held at UIU

The ‘Dua Mahfil’ in memory of Shaheed Irfan Bhuiyan a student of United International University (UIU) and all the martyrs of the anti-discrimination student movement and the anti-discrimination student movement to highlight this glorious movement to the new generation, the inauguration of ‘Independence Corner’ at UIU Library was held yesterday at Masjid Al-Mustafa, United City, Madani Avenue, Dhaka-1212.

Mr. Hasan Mahmood Raja, Chairman, Board of Trustees of UIU, Mr. K. M. Ahsan Shamim, Member, Board of Trustees of UIU, Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia, Vice Chancellor of UIU, Md. Abdul Moqaddem, Treasurer, UIU, Professor Emeritus Dr. M. Rezwan Khan, Executive Director of IAR, UIU and  Dr. Md. Zulfiqur Rahman, Registrar of UIU were present in the Dua Mahfil program.  

The Dua Mahfil's activities started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. In the anti-discrimination student movement requests were prayed for the forgiveness of the souls of all the martyrs, including Irfan Bhuiyan, a student of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, UIU and for the speedy recovery of the injured people. On the occasion, United International University and United Group gave a cheque of BDT 50 lakh to the family of Shahid Irfan Bhuiyan. UIU Library and Maintenance Lab is named after Shahid Irfan Bhuiyan. 

United International University (UIU) students played a leading role in realizing the dream of building a discrimination-free Bangladesh through the anti-discrimination student movement to highlight this glorious movement to the new generation the ‘Independence Corner’ at UIU Library was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia, Vice Chancellor, UIU. The history and data of the anti-discrimination student movement will be preserved and constantly enriched in Independence Corner.

Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia said that the history of the Bangladesh student movement in the Independence Corner will play an important role in highlighting the correct information for the new generation and discrimination-free in building a new Bangladesh.

The Faculty members, officials, students, guardians and other distinguished guests were present in the program.
