University of Dhaka (DU) authorities have invited applications for Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) programme for the 2024-2025 academic year (July-December).
Interested candidates have to apply by selecting a supervisor from among the teachers of the department/institute concerned.
The application form can be downloaded from the university website https://du.ac.bd, said a press release.
Candidates have to deposit Tk 1,000 (non-refundable) to Janata Bank TSC branch as fee for the admission form.
The application form should be duly filled and submitted to the office of the Chairman of the Department/Director of the Institute concerned.
To get admitted in the Ph.D. programme, the candidates must have an M.Phil. or a four-year Bachelor's degree and one-year master's degree or three-year Bachelor's degree and one-year Master's degree.
In addition, a synopsis of the research should be submitted at the same time.
In case of degrees obtained from abroad, applications for admission should be made after establishing the equivalence of those degrees. If any information is hidden or wrong information is given, the admission will be considered cancelled.
Candidates should have minimum 50% marks in all examinations with at least 2nd division/class. CGPA rules require CGPA 3.5 out of 5 or CGPA 3 out of 4 in all examinations from Secondary or Equivalent to Graduation or Post Graduate.
Candidates should have at least two research papers published in recognized journals. In case of Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Business Studies, at least one research publication should be under single name.
In case of three-year Bachelor Honors and one-year Masters degree holders, candidates should have at least two years of teaching experience at graduate level in a recognized educational institution or at least two years of research related work experience in a recognized research institution or at least two-year work experience in government, private, autonomous or semi-autonomous institutions.
