The Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Research Club  with the slogan "A Road to Innovation," has launched  to encourage practical research skills, academic excellence, innovation, and professional development. The club will function autonomously as a volunteer-run, nonprofit organization free from ties to politics, religion, race, ethnicity, or group interests

The inauguration ceremony took place on Thursday, November 7, at 11:30 am in the conference room of the Faculty of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology. BAU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. K. Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan inaugurated the event, attended by Student Affairs Advisor Prof. Dr. Md. Shahidul Haque, Proctor Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Alim, President of BAU Research Club Convener committee  Prof. Dr. Md. Akteruzzaman Khan, and Secretary Assistant Prof. Dr. A.K.M. Abdullah Al-Amin. Faculty members and students from various departments were also present.

The Research Club aims to inspire students to create research based new knowledge, solve problems, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and promote social impact and global inclusivity, according to members of the organizing committee.

Club President Prof. Dr. Md. Akteruzzaman Khan stated that the club seeks to motivate undergraduate and postgraduate students toward cutting-edge research, develop analytical thinking, and provide training on research implementation. It also aims to connect students with international research communities, guide them toward higher education abroad, and offer sessions on research methodologies, data analysis, presentation, and technical skills. The club will host expert discussions on current research topics, and hold seminars.

Prof. Khan added that the club will encourage interdepartmental collaboration, participate in and host seminars, symposiums, and workshops, conduct critical reviews of academic and research papers, accelerate innovation through research proposal competitions, and provide hands-on experience through lab, industry, or field visits. The club will connect students with mentors or experienced alumni for research guidance and teach strategies for writing research proposals and securing funding. "We want to nurture students into proficient researchers," he emphasized. "If they have the passion, we’ll help them grow into researchers."

BAU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. K. Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan remarked that the Research Club aims to enrich students’ career and research opportunities to empower them to work globally.

“Students are essential to a professor's work. A foundation of planning and innovative thinking is crucial in research. Through a supportive teacher-student relationship, we must awaken their hidden creative potential. I envision our students excelling beyond developed nations, even leading renowned global institutions. The university administration will always stand by to support them,” he affirmed.
