The authorities of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia will celebrate November 12 as the Green Campus Day every year aiming to turn the campus into a waste-free one towards protecting environment.
Vice Chancellor of the university Prof. Dr. Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah made the announcement at a meeting prior to bringing out a colourful procession on the campus to create mass awareness to this end.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Nasrullah led the procession began from the administrative building and later paraded the main roads of the campus. Teachers, students, officials, employees and members of various cleaning and awareness-raising organisations joined the procession.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Nakib Nasrullah said the university authorities are committed to protect the environment by keeping the campus clean. “As long as I serve this campus, we will continue to observe November 12 as Green Campus Day annually,” he said.
He called upon all who will lead this university in future to continue observing this day (Nov 12) as the Green Campus Day every year. “Let’s build a waste-free campus, a beautiful life, and a sustainable educational environment. Let this be our shared commitment to a sustainable future," he added.
