Five Professors of BAU Awarded Gold Medals for Research Contributions

Five professors from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) In recognition of their significant contributions to research, have been awarded gold medals in the Biological Sciences category. Four of the recipients were honored with the "Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) Gold Medal,"while one received the" BAS-Dr. M. Innas Ali Memorial Gold Medal."The awards were presented at a ceremony in Dhaka recently.

The awards recognize a decade of outstanding research and achievements in various branches of biological sciences. Among the recipients of the BAS Gold Medal, in the Senior Category, are Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam of the Soil Science Department (2018), Professor Dr. M.A. Rahim of the Horticulture Department (2012), and Professor Dr. Farida Yeasmin Bari of the Surgery and Obstetrics Department (2017).

In the Junior Category, Professor Dr. Syed Md. Ehsanur Rahman from the Animal Science Department was awarded for his work in 2012. Additionally, Professor Dr. M. Shahjahan from the Fisheries Management Department received the 2015 “BAS-Dr. M. Innas Ali Memorial Gold Medal.”

The award ceremony, held at the National Science and Technology Complex in Agargaon, was attended by Dr. M. Zahid Hasan, Eugene Higgins Professor of Physics at Princeton University, USA, as the chief guest.

The event was presided over by BAS President Emeritus Professor Dr. A.K. Azad Chowdhury, with BAS Secretary Professor Dr. Hasina Khan and other invited guests also in attendance.
