A book exchange festival was held at the Chittagong University on Tuesday. Environmental organization--"Books in exchange for plastic"-- organised the festival at Zero Point at the university.
The festival was organised to create awareness among the students, one of the organiser Md Mobarak Hossain told The Daily Messenger.
"Books in exchange for plastic-- is an environmental organization. It was started in 2023 with a view to save the environment from plastic pollution. We exchange books for plastic with the students to inspire them to read books," said Md Mobarak Hossain.
Md Mostafizur Rahman of the Political Science Department of Chittagong University told The Daily Messenger that the initiative was needed for the society.
"It was not only book exchange or getting new books rather than creating awareness on environment pollution," he said.
CU proctor Professor Dr. Tanvir Mohammad Hayder Arif appreciated the initiatives and told The Daily Messenger that the students here participated in creating awareness.
"Eliminating the use of plastic is our duty. I hope this initiative will lead the students to understand about the environmental issues and help us to stop using plastic," the proctor said.
