Rajshahi University of Engineering andTechnology (RUET) has arranged a daylong training workshop for its teachers and section heads aimed at making them competent to prevent anomalies in accreditation.

Initiated by Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the training titled "Preparation for Evaluation Team Visit of Accreditation" was held at its administrative building.

Vice-chancellor (VC) Professor SM Abdur Razzaque addressed the opening ceremony as the chief guest with IQAC Director Prof Imdadul Haque in the chair. Faculty Deans Prof Kamruzzaman, Prof Muhammad Rokonuzzaman, Prof Rabiul Islam and Prof Abdul Kader Zilani were present.

IQAC Additional Director Prof Shamim Anwar welcomed the participants.VC Prof Abdur Razzaque told the participants that the UGC has developed a
national qualifications framework for higher studies for Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) which would provide guidance to students pursuing higher education.

With this breakthrough, any student can get information about the learning process and skills before his or her admission or studies in different
sectors. It will also help to maintain international standards in Bangladesh's education system, he hoped.

The framework covers all sectors including skills, technical, vocational, and academic sectors. It was designed based on a credit point system and qualification levels.

The country's higher education system is designed under three structures- -bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees. He urged the participating teachers to make the best use of their knowledge to be acquired from the training workshop in their practical field.

"We have to take the responsibility of taking all the RUET's academic and administrative activities forward for the sake of generating knowledgeable human resources in the field of technical and engineering fields," he added.

A total of 286 teachers and section heads from different departments took part in the event.
