NSU VC attends THE Southeast Asia summit in Kuala Lumpur

Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of North South University, participated in the prestigious Times Higher Education Southeast Asia Summit 2024 as a distinguished panelist in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

The summit, held on November 26-27, brought together esteemed leaders from academia, industries and policy experts across the Southeast Asian region to deliberate on pressing issues in higher education and foster collaboration towards sustainable development goals, said a press release signed by Zarin Tasnim, Public Relations Office's Assistant Director of NSU. 

During the summit, Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury contributed to strategic discussions on critical topics such as retaining talent and tackling the brain drain, maximizing graduate employability across the Asia and Pacific region, research collaboration, and addressing challenges in higher education access and equity. His insights and perspectives from the Bangladeshi context added valuable dimensions to the discourse, reflecting North South University's dedication to addressing global challenges through localized solutions, the press release said. 

At the event, the Education Minister, Vice-Chancellors, and university representatives highlighted the global significance of the discussions and stakeholders' commitment to collaborative action in higher education. With a large and increasing youth population in Southeast Asia and continuously evolving job market needs, higher education institutions are uniquely positioned to develop competent and empowered members of society and the workforce, making the region’s ambitions for growth and development.

As North South University continues to expand its international footprint and contribute to the global knowledge ecosystem, Professor Chowdhury’s engagement at the event serves as a testament to the university's vision of nurturing future leaders and promoting academic excellence globally.
