Glenrich International School Uttara celebrates an extraordinary milestone, as Grade 9 student Aayan Zaman secures the prestigious ‘Top Team’ Award at the World Math Team Championship (WMTC) 2024, held from November 30 to December 2 in Qatar. Aayan's outstanding performance earned him a Silver Medal in the Individual Round, bringing immense pride to Bangladesh.
Representing Bangladesh as part of The Royal Six of Bengal, Aayan competed against 726 participants hailing from 27 countries in this globally renowned competition. The WMTC challenges students with complex mathematical problems in team-based, relay and individual rounds, testing their skills in both academics and collaboration.
This year’s championship was particularly significant for Bangladesh, marking the country’s first qualification for the WMTC. 27 Bangladeshi participants divided into five teams underwent intensive training and 10 rigorous selection exams to secure their spots in the national team. Aayan’s success represents his commendable dedication and excellent hold of mathematics, and he marks a historic achievement for the country. It also brings magnificent pride to Glenrich Uttara, the institution responsible for Aayan’s academic and personal growth.
