The 23rd National and 2nd International Conference of the Bangladesh Agronomy Society (BSA) concluded at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), celebrating three days of extensive discussions and academic exchange. During the event, five eminent agronomy researchers and professors were awarded the prestigious BSA Award. The conference also featured eight technical sessions and a poster session, presenting a total of 205 research papers, including 100 oral and 105 poster presentations. Outstanding presenters from the technical sessions were recognized with special awards.
The recipients of the BSA Award include Prof. Dr. M. Moinul Haque, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Prof. Dr. Jafar Ullah, former faculty of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Prof. Dr. Md. Sultan Ahmed, former faculty of Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU), and Prof. Dr. Md. Anowarul Islam and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ullah Sarker, both former faculty members of BAU.
In each technical session, two presenters Champion and Runner-Up were recognized with the M.A. Khalek Award. The Champions include Imam Mohiuddin, a Nigerian researcher at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU), BAU students Joyshree Pal Tandra and Swagata Islam Sorna, Dr. Murad Ahmed Faruk, Jasmin Nahar, and BSMRAU students Masuma Akter and Raihanul Islam.
Additionally, the Fazlul Haque Khondaker Award for Best Poster Presentation went to Md. Mamunur Rashid of HSTU, Ragib Raihan of PSTU, and Tarannum Mokhlesina Mahi of HSTU.
The conference, held under the theme “Smart Agronomy for Sustainable Crop Production,” was inaugurated on December 8 at the Syed Nazrul Islam Conference Hall of BAU. It brought together over 200 participants, including scientists, researchers, academics, and students from both domestic and international institutions.
