SUB hosts filmmaking workshop featuring renowned director Giasuddin Selim

The State University of Bangladesh (SUB) proudly hosted a special workshop titled “Meet the Director: A Talk with Giasuddin Selim” on its campus, offering students a unique opportunity to delve into the world of filmmaking. The event, organized by the SUB Film & Photography Club, took place in the university's conference room and saw enthusiastic participation from nearly 150 students across various departments.

The Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Nawzia Yasmin, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In her inaugural speech, she emphasized the significance of such workshops in honing students’ creative skills and broadening their perspectives.

The workshop’s keynote speaker, Giasuddin Selim, is a celebrated Bangladeshi filmmaker, screenwriter, and director known for acclaimed films such as Monpura, Swapnajaal, Gunin, Paap Punno, and Kajolrekha. Through an engaging question-and-answer session, he shared his filmmaking journey, insights into creative storytelling, and practical advice on becoming a filmmaker. His discussion provided invaluable inspiration to aspiring filmmakers and cinephiles.

The event also witnessed the presence of Md. Shamsul Islam, Dean of the School of Business and Social Sciences, alongside faculty members from various departments.

Certificates of participation were distributed to students at the conclusion of the program. The event was moderated by Asrafun Naher, Lecturer in the Department of Journalism, Communication, and Media Studies, and Convener of the SUB Film & Photography Club.
