The Inter-College Essay Competition 2024 prize giving ceremony was held on wednesday (December 11) at the Seminar Hall of Eastern University. The competition was organized by the Law Department of the university.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Shahid Akhtar Hossain delivered the speech as the chief guest, the Advisor of the Law Department Professor Dr. Shima Zaman delivered the speech as the guest of honor, the Treasurer Professor Md. Shamsul Huda was the special guest and the Dean of the Law Department A.B.M. Imdadul Haque Khan was the session chair. On behalf of the winning colleges Colonel Anwarul Islam Khan Principal of Milestone College and Md. Sirajul Islam Khan Principal of Haji Yunus Ali College spoke. And also the winning students of various colleges and their guardians were present at the event.
Registration for the competition began on October 19, 2024, and essays were collected until November 17. The results were published on December 6. This year's essay competition was held on 3 important topics. The topics are: Banning polythene to protect the environment: Implementation outline; The fourth industrial revolution and higher education in Bangladesh; The role of youth in state reform. About 400 students among 70 colleges from all over the country participated in the competition.
After much scrutiny, 10 students were declared winners. Mustaina Monjur student of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College won the 1st place in the competition, Rajeshewari Chatterji student of Milestone College won the 2nd place and Jannatul Nijhum student of Haji Yunus Ali College won the 3rd place.
The other winners were Anjuara Khatun Anjuman student of Ashulia School and College, Sanjida Chowdhury Ema student of Uttara High School and College, Vabna Akter student of Ashulia School and College, Ashraful Islam student of Notre Dame College, Tanvir Akter student of Government Tolaram College, Md. Jihad student of Daulatkhan Government Abu Abdullah College, Bhola and Md. Fahim Hasan student of Rangpur Cadet College. The program ended with the distribution of prizes to the winners.
The program was also attended by the university's registrar Dr. Abul Bashar Khan, director Nazla Fatmi, respected teachers of the law department, current students of the law department and other university officials and employees.
