Education Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud has said that ensuring the timely printing, binding, distribution, and supply of textbooks is one of the government's top priorities. He came up with the remark at a progress review meeting on textbook-related activities held at the Secondary and Higher Education Department at the Secretariat on Thursday.
The adviser said that the printing of primary school textbooks is progressing well and will be distributed among students on time.
However, he said the printing of textbooks for higher secondary classes is slightly delayed. He directed the authorities concerned to speed up the process to ensure these books are also distributed promptly.
During the meeting, press owners raised several issues they were facing. In response, the Education Adviser assured them that their concerns would be addressed quickly and urged them to continue printing textbooks in the national interest.
Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. M. Sakhawat Hossain, Adviser to the Ministries of Shipping and Labour, Professor Dr. M. Aminul Islam, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, Senior Secretary Siddique Jobayer, Secretary of the Technical and Madrasa Education Division Dr. K. M. Kabirul Islam, Chairman of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board Professor Dr. A. K. M. Riazul Hasan, along with representatives from various printing presses and other ministry officials were also present.
