The Bashundhara Language and Skill Development Centre (BLSDC) certified 20 youths on Sunday for completing courses on electrical installation maintenance and refrigeration and air conditioning techniques.

The three-month training programmes, conducted in partnership with the non-government organisation Friendship, were attended by 10 participants in each course.

The trainees were assessed under the standards set by the National Skill Development Authority.

The certificate distribution ceremony took place at the BLSDC training centre in Keraniganj, on the outskirts of Dhaka.

Friendship’s Assistant Director of Education Reza Ahmed distributed certificates among the participants, with BLSDC In-charge Major (retd) Golam Haider presiding over the session.

Friendship’s Assistant Manager of Education Olive Hossain also spoke at the event.

Reza Ahmed expressed his delight at the collaboration with Bashundhara Group, highlighting the opportunities created for young individuals through the training programme.

“There is no limit to acquiring skills, nor is there an age to stop learning. Bashundhara Group has stepped forward to support this effort. Their training centre stands out by providing more than just the curriculum within the allocated time.

We look forward to continuing such impactful training programs in partnership with Bashundhara,” Ahmed said. He also praised the quality of the training and expressed optimism about the positive transformations these newly certified individuals can bring to their lives and communities.

In his welcome address, Golam Haider encouraged the participants to remain committed to their professions despite potential challenges in the early stages. “After this training, you are well-equipped to contribute to the economy, both locally and internationally. Even if the initial salaries seem modest, persistence will help you build a strong reputation over time,” Haider said.

The training programmes provided 360 hours of technical and career development lessons, equipping the participants with skills relevant to their respective fields.

The event concluded with hopes of continued collaboration between Bashundhara Group and Friendship to empower more young people with practical skills for sustainable livelihoods.
