The commemorative sculpture of the great liberation war of Bangladesh is 'Adamya 1971'. Known to all as 'Adamya 71' in short. The cement sculpture stands tall in front of the Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) administration building. The sculpture was created by artist Mozai Jiban Sapri and was inaugurated in 2013.
According to the information of the engineering department of JUST, the sculpture depicts a young freedom fighter and a woman freedom fighter returning home after the war. The length of the compound of the sculpture is 26 feet. The length of the compound of 26 feet refers to the great Independence Day on March 26. Besides, the total height of the sculpture including the altar is 21 feet. 21 feet refers to Great Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day. The standing figure with the altar is 16 feet tall, signifying the Great Victory Day.
Moreover, the length of the altar in front and behind the sculpture is 9 feet. The length of the altar is 9 feet meaning the 9 months of the great liberation war. As a unique feature, the altar has 6 high order steps, which means the historical 6 steps of the great father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The sculpture features a design of a raft of 7 banana trees, representing Father of the Nation Bangabandhu's historic March 7 speech.
This place is known as one of the most attractive places for university students and visiting tourists. The new generation can understand the great liberation war and freedom by seeing the sculpture. Besides, the names of various great people related to freedom are associated with the names of various buildings of the university. Named after Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman academic building, Sheikh Russell Gymnasium, Shaheed Masiur Rahman Hall and Sheikh Hasina Hall are notable.
