The Master’s of Theology at Islamic Studies (MTIS) Farewell for the 2022-23 academic session of the Al Hadith Department at Islamic University (IU) was celebrated on Sunday at the Bir Srestho Hamidur Rahman Auditorium, with an atmosphere filled with festivity and enthusiasm.
IU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah, graced the event as the chief guest, while Professor Dr. ATM Keramat Ali, Chairman of the MTIS Exam Committee, opened the ceremony with an introductory speech to the valedictory students. Other notable speakers included IU Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. M. Yeaqub Ali, Treasurer Professor Dr. Jahangir Alam, Theology Faculty dean Professor Dr ABM Siddiqur Rahman Asrafi, and student advisor Professor Dr Obayedul Islam, who addressed them as special guests. The department’s founding Chairman, Professor Dr. AKM Waliullah, also addressed the attendees. The event was chaired by Professor Dr. Akter Hossain, Chairman of the Al Hadith and Islamic Studies Department.
Addressing the former students, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah said, You are not just madrasah students, you are world-class students. Stay connected with the university in the future. Those who pursue higher education at other universities will strengthen our ties with them.
Vice-Chancellor also mentioned that the department codes of the Theology Faculty are yet to be registered with the UGC, but assured that this process will be completed in the near future.
During the event, the guests were honored with commemorative crests. The 28th batch students were also presented with farewell crests from their teachers. After the ceremony, students and faculty participated in a rally starting from the auditorium gate.
The event concluded with heartfelt goodbyes and best wishes for the students as they embark on their future academic and professional journeys.
