In a significant step toward sustainable and profitable agriculture, Bangladesh is set to host its first-ever International Conference on “Agricultural Machinery and Bioresource Engineering.” The event will focus on the theme “Smart agricultural mechanization and bioresources utilization towards Fourth Agricultural Revolution.”
Scheduled for February 12-13, the conference will take place at the Syed Nazrul Islam Conference Hall of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU). It is jointly organized by the Bangladesh Society of Agricultural Machinery and Bioresource Engineering (BSAMBE) and BAU’s Department of Farm Power and Machinery.
Over 300 participants, including scientists, agricultural engineers, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and farmers from both Bangladesh and abroad, are expected to attend.
The event will feature six technical sessions, one business session, and two poster sessions, showcasing 160 research papers on agricultural technologies. Additionally, a farm machinery expo will be held, where eight leading companies will exhibit their latest innovations alongside technologies developed by the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute(BRRI) and Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI).
At a press conference on February 10, the event’s convenor, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Awal from BAU’s Department of Farm Power and Machinery highlighted the information. He emphasized the crucial role of modern technology, AI, robotics, IoT, GPS, and GIS in transforming agriculture and stated that the conference aims to explore how these technologies can be effectively integrated into Bangladesh’s agricultural sector, benefiting farmers and enhancing profitability.
