8th Convocation of Southeast University Held

The 8th Convocation of Southeast University (SEU) was held on Thursday, 27 February 2025, at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in Purbachal. As the representative of the Hon’ble President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Chancellor of Southeast University, Md. Touhid Hossain, Hon’ble Advisor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, chaired the Convocation ceremony and conferred degrees upon the graduating students. Professor Dr. S. M. A. Faiz, Hon’ble Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC), delivered the convocation speech.

A total of 1922 students from various programs attended the convocation. Chandrima Chakraborty fromTextile dept.,  Ariful Karim from Pharmacy, Rema Rani Paul from BBA, Sumaia Aktar from Pharmacy, and Habiba Khanom Lubna from Pharmacy completed their undergraduate degrees with a perfect CGPA of 4.0 and received the prestigious Chancellor’s Gold Medal.

Additionally, 27 graduates from various disciplines, selected based on their highest CGPA, were awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Gold Medal. The Convocation Chair, Md. Touhid Hossain, presented the Chancellor's Gold Medals, while Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Yusuf Mahbubul Islam awarded the Vice Chancellor's Gold Medals. Chandrima Chakraborty delivered the valedictorian speech.

Mr. Rezaul Karim, Chairman of the Southeast University Board of Trustees, emphasized the importance of ethical leadership, urging graduates to reflect on their priorities beyond material success.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Yusuf Mahbubul Islam, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. M. Mofazzal Hossain also addressed the gathering. The event was conducted by Maj. Gen. Md. Anwarul Islam (Retd.), Registrar of SEU.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Board of Trustees (BoT), Academic Council, and Syndicate, along with Vice Chancellors of various universities, government and corporate officials, faculty members, staff, students, and guardians.
