The students of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Wednesday (16 August) staged a human chain demanding proper investigation and justice for Nowrin Nusrat Snigdha’s mysterious death.
Under the banner of ‘Bondhon 32’ over 50 students from different departments under 2017-18 academic sessions of the university gathered in front of the university’s Mrittunjoyee Mujib Mural and formed a human chain there around 12 pm to press home their demand.
Mosaddek of Law and land management department and Ridom of Public administration department jointly conducted the event where Shahida Akhtar, chairman of Law and land management department and Dr. M Mahbubar Rahman, IU Shapla Forum general secretary were present.
Addressing the human chain, the speakers urged the university authority and law enforcement agencies to ensure a fair investigation into Nusrat’s death and take the exemplary punishment of criminals.
“Nowrin was a progressive, graceful, and resilient student of the university. She always stood against suicide and wrongful deeds. The girl who always opposed suicide, it is not possible for her to engage in such an act. We are demanding a proper investigation into this mysterious death”, Said Shahida Akhtar, chairman of the Department.
Earlier on August 8, Nowrin, a student of the 2017-18 academic sessions of Law and Land Management department of the university, died after falling from the sixth floor of a rented house in Ashulia, Savar.
