The High Court ruled that the removal order of Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Associate Professor of the English Department of Jagannath University (JnU), on the charge of plagiarism in a research paper, was declared invalid.

On Thursday (August 17), a bench of the high court consisting of two Judges, Justice Md. Khasruzzaman and Justice Md. Khairul Alam, approved the rule issued in the writ of the teacher against the removal order.

Lawyer M. Manzoor Alam confirmed the verdict. Lawyers Shahdeen Malik and M. Manzoor Alam appeared in court in favour of the teacher.

After the announcement of the court's verdict, the president of the university's teachers' association, Professor Dr. Ainul Islam, said that the court proved that the removal of Nasir Uddin was completely illegal. Now the university administration should honourably reinstate him in his position.

In this regard, Nasir Uddin said, the court has declared the truth. Now I want to go back to university as soon as possible. I want to return to class with my students. That is the only request.

In this regard, University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Imdadul Haque said action will be taken when the court's order is received.

It is to be noted that it was decided to remove Associate Professor Nasir Uddin Ahmed from the university's job on April 26, 2018 in the 77th syndicate meeting, alleging plagiarism in an article that was presented by him for promotion to Professor. After receiving the removal order, Nasir Uddin approached the High Court. In August 2019, the High Court issued the rule. The final ruling on that ruling was announced Thursday.
