Tahmina Authoi, the winner of ‘World Miss University Bangladesh 2017,’ made her silver screen debut in the 2021 film titled ‘Kal Bela,’ directed by the renowned filmmaker and freedom fighter Saidul Anam Tutul. The actress-anchor, who completed her Honours in Drama and Masters in Performing Arts from the University of Chittagong, is currently immersed in various film projects and hosting television programmes.

However, Authoi's latest movie, 'Ajob Chele,' has recently been released. In an exclusive interview with Mahamudul Islam Sondhan of The Daily Messenger, Authoi shared insights into her recent ventures and work experiences. Here are some excerpts from the interview:

The Daily Messenger: What are you currently busy with?

Authoi: I am currently involved in a web series, but I am not allowed to reveal much about it at this time. Additionally, I have completed shooting for a movie titled ‘Oporajito Eka,’ directed by Syed Salahuddin Zaki. Unfortunately, Mr. Zaki passed away before the movie's release. Moreover, the filming for ‘Chattala Express’ is still ongoing.

Messenger: Recently, the film ‘Ajob Chele,’ based on the short story by the prominent author Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal and starring you, was released. How is the response?

Authoi: Alhamdulillah, we are receiving a good response from the audience. Despite the challenging situation in the country and ongoing strikes, the love from the audience is truly heartening. If the cinema hall owners support us, and the audience continues to appreciate our work, it makes it worthwhile. Many viewers have expressed the desire for more movies of this genre.

Messenger: Tell us a little about your character in ‘Ajob Chele.’

Authoi: My character’s name is Moly, who is portrayed as smart, intelligent, and compassionate. Molly knows how to love people and stand against injustice with her own strength. It’s truly an amazing character.

Messenger: How was the shooting experience or any fun memories?

Authoi: The shooting experiences were both fun and challenging. It involved a lot of hard work, and we shot for about 35 to 40 days, facing adverse weather conditions like frequent rain. Since most of the shooting was outdoors, there were some difficulties. However, with everyone’s cooperation and the efforts of Director Manik Manobik, we managed to complete the work.

Messenger: Which do you enjoy more between anchoring and acting?

Authoi: I enjoy both, but since working on both simultaneously can be challenging, I decided to focus on acting from the beginning. However, whenever I undertake any work, I approach it with a sense of ownership, love, responsibility, and enjoyment.

Messenger: What are your thoughts about OTT? When will the audience see you on OTT projects?

Authoi: As I mentioned earlier, I am currently working on a web series, which is my first on this platform. I hope to offer something new to the audience through a completely different character. The release date for the series is approaching, and I am excited for the audience to see it soon.
