On the path to an acting career, artistes dream of playing various roles. Some achieve their dream roles, while others spend their lives waiting.
At the beginning of her acting career, actress Nishat Tasneem Toma could never have imagined that such an opportunity would come her way. The young actress appeared in a unique role in a sign language-based tele-drama titled ‘Mounatar Mon Bhange Na,’ which aired on Bangladesh Television (BTV) last January 20. The drama was written by Rajib Moni Das and directed by Saif Ahmed.
Golam Kibria Tanvir and Nithor Mahbub, among others, acted in the tele-drama.
Toma's performance as Mounata in the drama has won the hearts of the audience. After the drama aired, many viewers praised Toma's performance on social media. She herself received much appreciation for her role using sign language in this drama. If the drama is released on YouTube, those who missed it can watch it. Even Toma was impressed by the unprecedented response she received in just a single telecast on television.
Toma shared her excitement, saying, “It is not that I have acted in many dramas. However, I received a good response for each one. This is the first time I have acted in a drama based on sign language. I don't know if there any drama with this kind of story aired on BTV before. But after the drama aired, I got quite a good response.”
“My sincere gratitude to the playwright and director of the drama. Thanks to the co-artistes, Tanvir Bhai, Nithor Mahbub Bhai, and others who were there. It was very challenging for me to play the role of Mounata. With everyone's inspiration, I tried to portray the character properly. Sincere thanks to the audience. I will try to act in better dramas in the future,” the actress added.
