'Hawai Mithai', a war movie by Rakayet Rabbi (also known as Rabbi Bhuiyan), a student of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam University, is set to premiere during the upcoming Ca' Foscari Film Festival in Venice, Italy.

The 14th edition of the festival will be held from March 20 to 23.

Confirming the film’s premiere in the festival, director Rabbi Bhuiyan told The Daily Messenger, “This is very happy news for the 'Hawai Mithai' movie. It feels so good. If everything goes well, the main protagonist of my movie, Mizanur Rahman, and I, are going to Italy to participate in the 14th edition of the Ca' Foscari Short Film Festival.”

“The whole world is going through the reality of war. This movie, 'Hawai Mithai', is about the grim reality of war,” he added.

The script of the movie is written by Rabbi himself. Mizanur Rahman plays the role of Hawai Mithaiwala [who sells Hawai Mithai (candy floss or cotton candy)] in the movie.

He claimed the story of the film happens to be original, saying, “A youth-based team, who wanted to do something beyond the boundaries, this achievement is the transformation of that desire. That was to be expected. Because we have suffered a lot with honesty.”

The film is produced under the banner of Filling Station and Big Bang Films. The cinematography is done by Monir Hossain.

Besides, Ornil Birol, Nasuma Khan Jhuma, and Sadi Shuvo played important roles.
