ICCR Marks 15th Foundation Day with Special Odissi Performances

The Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) celebrated its fifteenth Foundation Day at Dhanmondi Dhaka with a mesmerizing showcase of Odissi dances. The event, held on Monday (11 March) at 6:00 p.m., was a testament to the enduring cultural ties between India and Bangladesh, as performers of “Odissi and Tagore Dance Movement Centre, Chittagong; Bangladesh” first Odissi dance Institution in Bangladesh grace the stage.

The evening was adorned with captivating Odissi performances by a lineup of esteemed artists. Senior Dance Artists, along with an Assistant Dance Teacher and an ICCR Scholar, took the audience on a journey through the graceful movements of Odissi.

The Director of the "Odissi and Tagore Dance Movement Centre, Chittagong; Bangladesh," led the ensemble, infusing the atmosphere with the rich cultural heritage. Adding to the spectacle were the talented students of IGCC, who showcased their dedication and skill on stage.

Artists’ of Odissi and Tgaore Dance Movement Centre, Chittagong; Bangladesh; Moyukh Sarkar, Diya Das Gupta, Arjita Sen Chowdhury, and Eshika Das delivered enchanting performances, captivating the audience with their artistry and passion.

Prominent Drama Director Dr. Kuntal Barua was the Production adviser of OTDMC and Subhashis Das Gupta assisted the production, ensuring a seamless and memorable experience for all attendees. The event's ambiance was further enhanced by the melodious voice of Abhra Barua and the skillful musical arrangements of Sumadh Barua.

The distinguished Mrinmoy Chakraborty, Director of the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, Dhaka, Bangladesh, came up with a welcome speech by symbolizing the close bond between the two nations in promoting cultural exchange and understanding.

As the evening concluded, attendees departed with a renewed appreciation for the profound cultural connections that bind India and Bangladesh, fostering a legacy of friendship and collaboration for generations to come.

The Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre at Dhanmondi in Dhaka was inaugurated in 2010 by the then President of the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (IGCC) Dr. Karan Singh. The center has been organizing cultural programs, seminars, workshops, classes for Yoga training classes, Hindi learning, Indian classical music and dances regularly to promote cultural ties between the two countries.
