The film ‘Sonar Char,’ directed by Zahid Hossain, is poised for release this upcoming Eid season. The track ‘Asmane Ghor Banaichhe Tara’ from the movie has already garnered a positive response from audiences. Penned by Shahabuddin Mojumdar and composed by Abid Rani, the song features the enchanting vocals of Kona, accompanied by co-artiste Belal Khan.
Zayed Khan and Snigdha star in the song's video. Kona expressed optimism about the audience's reception to this folk-inspired piece.
Reflecting on the song, Kona said, “‘Asmane Ghor Banaichhe Tara’ is a departure from traditional genres. I had a feeling that audiences would appreciate it, and thankfully, they have. It's a memorable addition to my repertoire. Some songs endure in listeners' minds for years, and this is one of them. I'm grateful to the film's director and everyone involved in its creation.”
Kona also revealed that she has several new songs set for release in various dramas this Eid. Despite her bustling schedule in the music industry, she remains deeply engaged in jingles, voice-overs, and dubbing. In Bangladesh's music scene, Kona has emerged as the contemporary equivalent of the renowned singer Sumana Haq, dubbed the 'Queen of Jingles.'
Speaking about her diverse roles, Kona shared, “While my primary identity is as a musician, I find immense joy in jingles, voice-overs, and dubbing. However, nothing quite compares to the exhilaration of standing in front of a microphone to record a song.”
Furthermore, Kona disclosed that she has already provided playback singing for another upcoming film. Discussions are also underway for stage performances post-Eid.
Notably, Kona received the National Film Award for her outstanding playback performance in the film ‘Bishwo Sundari.’ This recognition has led to invitations to perform at prestigious national events, a source of immense pride for her.
