Syed Omy, a popular singer of contemporary times, made waves earlier this year with the release of his music video ‘Matal,’ infused with a southern style. Omy appeared with actress Achol Akhe in the music video. The song received an overwhelming response upon its release.
In a remarkably short span, ‘Matal’ gained widespread popularity, accumulating an impressive five hundred million views on YouTube alone, with its viewership continually on the rise. The song also resonated strongly across various digital platforms, amassing millions of views.
Building on this momentum, Omy is set to unveil his latest music video, ‘Baby Kotha Chhui Na,’ on his YouTube channel on the night before Eid day. Penned and composed by Omy himself in the Old Dhaka dialect, the song celebrates the cultural heritage of the region. ‘Sultana Bibiana'-famed Achol stars in the video, with music arranged by AM Farhad and choreography by Habibur Rahman. The music video is directed by Shuvro Mehraj.
Reflecting on the success of ‘Matal,’ Achol expresses gratitude, saying, “The song has been watched by five hundred million people in total. We are deeply touched by their affection. The joy of connecting with audiences and becoming part of their favourites is indescribable. It inspires us for our future endeavours.”
Commenting on the new release, Syed Omy shares, “It's a milestone for me to write a song in the Old Dhaka language, shedding light on the heritage of the area. Although not filmed in Old Dhaka, the song captures its essence. Shot at Cumilla Magic Paradise Park, I believe ‘Baby Kotha Chhui Na’ will follow the footsteps of ‘Matal’ in terms of popularity.”
In ‘Baby Kotha Chhui Na,’ Achol portrays the role of a billionaire's cherished daughter, embracing a Western aesthetic and a penchant for international travel, while Syed Omy embodies the spirit of Old Dhaka.
Furthermore, Omy is set to release several more songs during the upcoming Eid festivities, including "Tumi Chara Chai Na Kichu" from the movie "Maya: The Love," directed by Jashim Uddin Jakir and featuring Anisur Rahman Milon, Saimon Sadik, Shabnam Bubly, and Roshan. The song premiered on Wednesday evening, with Omy expressing optimism about its reception.
