Marking World Mother's Day, the ‘Ma Padak 2024’ (Mother Award 2024), hosted and patronised by the Ali Rupa Foundation, was conferred for the third time through a colourful event on Friday.
This year, the 'Ma Padak,' presented by Perfect Electronics and supervised by eminent entertainment journalist Ovi Moinuddin, was handed over to legendary actress Anwara Begum and the mothers of popular actor and member of parliament (MP) Ferdous Ahmed, choreographer and dance director Shamim Ara Nipa, teacher Golam Jilani, Dr Mukta Saha, Shanta Sarkar, actress Richi Solaiman, Rafiath Rashid Mithila, Keya Payel, actor Intekhab Dinar, FS Naim, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Sheikh Hafizur Rahman, writer and playwright Jamir Uddin Milan, actor Emon, actress Mim, singer Yusuf, singer Luipa, presenter Ruhani Labonno, assistant commissioner of the Ministry of Land Saidul Islam Said, journalist Ovi Moinuddin, and Sadia Nancy.
Whip of the National Parliament, Advocate Sanjida Khanam attended the award ceremony as the chief guest, while Dhaka-10 MP Ferdous Ahmed was present as the special guest. They, along with the general secretary of the Ali Rupa Foundation, Abdul Haq, and the founder and chief executive officer of Perfect Electronics, Golam Shahriar Kabir, handed over the 'Ma Padak 2024' to the recipients at the ballroom of Hotel Regency in the capital.
Along with awarding medals to each mother, crests, certificates, and gifts were presented on behalf of the foundation. Additionally, gifts were given by the American cosmetic brand Harlan, supervised by actor Emon. Royal Cafe and Premium Tours and Travels extended their support to successfully organize the entire event.
Advocate Sanjida Khanam, MP, said, “I feel very happy to be able to hand over the ‘Ma Padak’ to the mothers of all the proud children. It is because of the hardships of mothers that children become successful, and today I can see the bright faces of the honoured mothers.”
Ferdous Ahmed said, “Ovi Moinuddin's initiative is truly praiseworthy. My mother has also been honoured at this event, which is also due to my success. What greater achievement can there be in life than this? I only hope that we do not need any old-age homes in Bangladesh. Let all mothers and fathers stay with their children and families.”
At the end of the event, Rashed, Yusuf, Luipa, Labonno, and Mithila performed music.
