Richi Solaiman, a celebrated actress of Bangladesh's media industry, has captivated audiences through her performances in numerous tele-drama productions. Her husband Rashek Malik is currently a detective with the New York Police Department in the United States. With their two children, Richi had been residing in America.
However, for the past few years, Richi has been staying in Dhaka to nurture her children in the education and culture of Bangladesh. During this time, she has also worked in some dramas. Yet, it can be said that she has primarily dedicated these past few years to her children.
Amidst this, Richi has shared an exciting update regarding her acting career. For the first time, she has completed work on a web film. Directed by Bijoya Jena and written by Satyaki Tarafdar, Richi has acted in the web film titled ‘Girgiti’.
Recently, Richi has returned Dhaka after completing the shooting for this web film in Kolkata. In the film, she portrays the character of Shovona, a police officer who unravels the mystery behind a murder.
Regarding her first experience of acting in a web film, Richi said, “I met Ashique Bhai of RTV at an event in America. He proposed the idea of working together. I told him that I would only take up projects with stories and characters that resonate with me. Ashique Bhai was unaware that I was staying in Dhaka. He then said he was preparing a web film for me to work on. Eventually, through Ashique Bhai's planning, I ended up working in 'Girgiti'.”
The actress added, “The entire project was shot in Kolkata, and apart from me, the rest of the team was from Kolkata. The work was carried out with utmost care and professionalism. In our country, stories centering around women are rare, which deeply disappoints our artistes.
Nevertheless, 'Girgiti' is a female-centric web film. Since the entire project was based in Kolkata, they executed it with their fullest dedication to the craft. I believe this work will captivate the hearts of the audience.”
Produced by Bengal Multimedia Limited, the web film 'Girgiti' will be broadcast on 'RTV Plus' on a special day soon. Richi informed that she will participate in the shooting of another drama on June 2 and 3.
