From the beginning of Bangladesh's film history until today, certain names are treated as special, and Purnima's name is particularly noteworthy. Especially in the 1990s, she emerged as one of the four most successful actresses of that decade in Bangladeshi cinema.

On May 15, 1998, Purnima made her debut as a leading actress opposite popular actor Riaz in the film 'E Jibon Tomar Amar' directed by Zakir Hossain Raju. Since then, she has acted in 80 commercially successful films. At one point, she also became a topic of discussion due to her hosting work.

According to Purnima, her first commercially successful film was 'Joddha'. Among her other favourite films are 'Sontan Jokhon Shotru', 'Premer Nam Bedona', 'Sultan', 'Pita Matar Amanot', 'Moner Majhe Tumi', 'Shasti', 'Subha', 'Biyer Prostab', 'Lobhe Pap Pape Mrityu', 'Hridoyer Kotha' and 'Ora Amake Bhalo Hote Dilona'.

At the beginning of her film career, Purnima also acted in a drama opposite actor Shahiduzzaman Selim, directed by Rezanur Rahman. In films, she has acted opposite Riaz, Manna, Rubel, Ferdous, Amin Khan, Amit Hasan, Shakib Khan, and many others. In dramas, she has captivated audiences with her performances opposite Raisul Islam Asad, Afzal Hossain, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Zahid Hasan, Mahfuz Ahmed, Mosharraf Karim, Chanchal Chowdhury, Apurba, and several others.

Purnima has millions of devoted fans in Bangladesh who eagerly await her new work. Her most recently released film is 'Ahare Jibon'.

Speaking about her current position and gratitude after more than 25 years of success in her acting career, Purnima said, “First of all, I express my infinite gratitude to Allah. Along with that, I express my sincere gratitude to the producers, directors, co-artistes, technicians of each of my films, all the viewers of Bangladesh, and above all, to my journalist brothers and sisters. Of course, I will always be grateful to my mother. Because it was her encouragement that led me to work and become the Purnima I am today. There were certainly ups and downs in my 25-year acting career. At one point, I had become discouraged. But later, by getting into discussions through anchoring, I was able to return to my former position.”

“I am truly especially grateful to my viewers and fans. Late veteran Nayak Raj-famed actor Razzak made two films featuring me in the leading characters. I am indebted to him for the drive he gave me at that time,” she added.

Purnima was born on July 11, 1984. Many, many good wishes on Purnima's birthday. She received the National Film Award for her performance in the film 'Ora Amake Bhalo Hote Dilona' directed by Kazi Hayat.
