Bangladesh's National Film Award-winning singer Dilshad Nahar Kona has recently garnered widespread acclaim for her song ‘Dushtu Kokil’ (Naughty Cuckoo) in the recently released film ‘Toofan,’ directed by Raihan Rafi. The song has captured audiences both in Bangladesh and abroad, significantly boosting Kona's popularity and increasing her professional commitments.
In a surprising turn of events, world-renowned singer and composer Runa Laila publicly praised Kona's performance. On Monday night, Laila posted on her Facebook accounts, expressing her enjoyment of the film ‘Toofan’ and specifically commending two songs from the movie. She wrote, “Watched Toofan a few days ago. Enjoyed it. Making was good and Shakib Khan was very good as usual. The two songs were really very well composed, sung and very well shot. I loved both the songs but my personal favourite is Dushtu Kokil daakey Coo Coo Coo. Catchy tune and very well sung by Kona. All the best for the next venture.”
Overwhelmed by this recognition, Kona described it as the greatest achievement of her musical career. She said, "I could hardly believe it. It once again proves how great-hearted and magnificent an artiste she [Runa Laila] is. May Allah keep her well and healthy.”
On the same day, Kona's husband, Golam Md. Iftekhar Gahin, shared a status praising Kona's dedication, hard work, and humility in her musical journey, which she found deeply inspiring.
Kona considers July 15 a special day in her musical life, having received motivational recognition from both Runa Laila and her husband on the same day.
