The release of the short film ‘Ekti Khola Janala’ (An Open Window) has been suspended by the OTT platform Binge amidst the ongoing quota reform movement. The film, directed by Vicky Zahed, was originally scheduled for release on July 18.

Last Saturday afternoon, an official from the OTT platform informed media that considering the current situation, a new release date for the film will be announced at a later time.

The psychological thriller revolves around a series of nurse murders in the Keshobpur area, spreading terror among locals. The film explores who is selectively killing nurses and why.

Director Vicky Zahed, who began his career making short films, has since gained recognition for his work in TV series and dramas. He is now returning to short films with projects like ‘Redrum,’ ‘Tithidor,’ and ‘Punarjanma.’

Vicky's recent releases ‘Tithidor’ and ‘Hajat’ have garnered attention. In a recent interview with a national daily, he described ‘Ekti Khola Janala’as an experimental work, saying, “I made short films at the beginning of my career. After a long time, I'm making them again.”

The film stars Tasnia Farin and Salha Nadia as two nurses. Farin told that this would be her first time in such a role, saying, “I like psychological thriller stories. I really liked the story of this short film when I heard it.”

In the future, Vicky plans to direct a web series called ‘Mithyabadi’ for Hoichoi.

The postponement of ‘Ekti Khola Janala’ reflects the impact of the current social movement on the entertainment industry in Bangladesh, with release schedules being adjusted in response to ongoing events.
